Liverpool City Council is offering Social Work degree apprenticeships for people interested in working in children’s social care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to achieve a degree in Social Work whilst gaining ‘on the job’ experience to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a qualified Social Worker.

The five successful candidates will attend the University of Central Lancashire one day a week and spend the other four days working in a Social Work Team to develop and apply the knowledge and skills they have learned.

Graduates will gain a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Work (England) which will enable them to apply for registration as a Social Worker with the regulatory body Social Work England. After which they will be supported to apply for progression to a Newly Qualified Social Worker role.

The social work degree apprenticeships have been launched as part of the Council’s commitment to grow and develop its workforce by offering opportunities for experienced and enthusiastic people with a commitment to working with children, as well as personal development for current staff to support learners.

The Council is also in the process of setting up a Social Work Academy

This will offer excellent quality tailored support and learning opportunities for apprentices, students and staff in Liverpool Children’s Services with training, reflective supervision and shadowing opportunities as well as one-to-one support from experienced Social Workers.

The degree will start in January 2024 and applications can be made here.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role. More information is available by emailing apprentices@liverpool.gov.uk.

Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity and apply now.
